This is a video I collaborated on with Dustin Stern from Building Roots. I have been running workshops with them as part of our artist collective Works-in-Progress, and really like the community they work in (Toronto's Moss Park, among others) and the work they have been doing. While this virus has shut down most of the city, the Moss Park Market remains open as an essential service, and they have expanded their services to more food deliveries, along with other joyful items, and have become an even more vital hub. I was happy to help with this.
Dustin asked BR staff members to contribute a video of themselves singing along to the chorus of Three Little Birds by Bob Marley. He then forwarded the videos and photos to me along with himself on mandolin. I used his track as the base, added in the different voices... they all had a different approach and also, of course whenever you use videos recorded on phones the codec is different so there was some workarounds but we kept it short and sweet, as a gift to the staff and many volunteers. Dustin is a musician not unfamiliar with editing software too so we divided the tech issues, he collected all the content and I did all the editing. Everyone is pretty happy with this little bit of joy.
